Mayte Maya, flamenco singer

Mayte Maya is a “cantaora” who has dedicated her entire life to flamenco. Born in the well-known Sacromonte in Granada, one of the most emblematic places of flamenco in Spain, she belongs to the traditional family of the Mayas Cotorreros which includes names like her grandfather El Cotorrero, Juana del Cagachín, the dancer Chata “La Jampona”, Juanele Maya, Teresa Maya, Tony Maya or El Chispitas.

From the age of four she was already performing in emblematic tablaos such as “El Flamenco”, often together with her parents, the singer and dancer María La Coneja and the dancer Bienvenido Maya “El Bienve”. At the age of 15 she began her professional career, performing in the most important tablaos in the country, but above all in Madrid, where he has performed in places such as the old Cuevas de Nemesio, Café de Chinitas, Corral de la Morería, Corral de la Pacheca, Casa Patas and now in El Lucero.

Her performances, full of magic and energy, dazzle the audience wherever she goes. For this reason Mayte Maya has been able to collaborate with other iconic flamenco artists such as Manuela Carrasco, Carmen Cortés, José Porcel, María Juncal, Andrés Maya, Diego Llori, Niña Pastori, Rafael Amargo and many others.

Clases de Guitarra Flamenca

In Rafael Amargo’s dance company she participated in memorable performances such as “Dioniso”, in the 65th Festival of Classic Theater in Merida.

She also participated in the recording of the albums Antología Flamenca and “Tauromaquia” by Manolo Sanlúcar. In 2016 she stands out for her brilliant participation in the television contest “The Voice” in Malu’s team.

Mayte Maya arrives at Centro El Lucero to complement our exceptional teaching staff with her flamenco singing classes and to participate in the shows we offer periodically.
